Lawyer Barbara van Straaten represents several of the victims of the A7 blockade. The blockade was caused during the national opening of the Dutch holiday Sinterklaas in 2017. Barbara van Straaten also represents the organisation Nederland wordt Beter, who will join the proceedings as an injured party.
Several of the victims have notified the court that they wish to exercise their right to address the court. During the court hearing on 15 June, it became clear that the defence objected against the intention of the victims to address the court. The court dismissed these objections.
The case will continue in October.
